The town of Velburg
The baroque buildings are built closely next to each other. They are painted in red, yellow, green, orange or blue. Their windows and doors have a white frame. The lowest series of windows is roughly a meter above the ground. The lawns in front of the buildings are glazing in green, the trees are blooming and the flowers are shining in the most colorful colors. At the top of the quaint civic center is the wonderful, beige-colored, neo-Gothic city hall with its stately bright red crenellations. The parish church with its prominent onion-domed tower is located uphill at the street Burgstraße. The ruins of the old castle are enthroned on top of the hill. Velburg – what a view. Velburg is a small town with a unique atmosphere. About 5200 people live here, in the middle of the beautiful »Kuppenalb« right in the rural idyll. It is very cozy, particularly during Christmas season when the quaint civic center is lighted only by the few lamps from the booths, when the scent of mulled wine, cinnamon and gingerbread is in the wind and snow flakes fall on the colorful houses and the city hall.
